Outside Lands: An Exciting Weekend of Music, Food, Drinks & More

Outside Lands 2023 was a sold-out event that celebrated it’s 15th year at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The three day festival was the best combination of amazing food & beverages, art installations and top-tier musical acts.

Sip and Savor at Outside Lands

Though billed as a music festival, Outside Lands 2023 showcases the finest food and beverages from the Bay Area and beyond. From the impressive Dungeness Crab Lumpia from Dirty Habit to the indulgent Reggie Miller Burger from Smish Smash and outstanding drink options like the Kentucky Maiden and Gray Whale Gin, this year’s event was an unforgettable celebration of Bay Area culture, and music.

The Kentucky Maiden at Cocktail Magic

It is no surprise that I was looking forward to the cocktails at Outside Lands. One of my favorites was The Kentucky Maiden, crafted with Bulleit Rye, included fresh raspberry seltzer, zesty ginger beer, lime, and fresh mint. Another standout was the Gray Whale Gin, not only a beverage but an immersive experiential activation that shed light on ocean conservation.

Music and More

Of course, music was at the heart of the festival. This year’s lineup includes Lana del Ray, Janelle Monae, Foo Fighters, Megan Thee Stallion, and Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick Lamar’s set was an abbreviated version of his Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers tour. In fact, the hour long set was impressive and complete with choreography which made it both a captivating and entertaining set. It is worth noting that there were a number of scheduling conflicts that meant having to choose between some big name acts throughout the weekend.

Outside Lands also offered Grass Lands, which allows attendees to purchase and consume cannabis from local California growers. Its counterpart Wine Lands had wine from over 35 wineries include red, white and sparkling wines to enjoy. The Toyota Music Den had amazing artists perform all weekend. Coco & Breezy’s set was a personal favorite.

Overall, Outside Lands proved to be another year of noteworthy performances, standout food offerings, and immersive experiences. This year’s festival was a true representation of the San Francisco Bay Area’s culture.

If you made it to Outside Lands this year, I’d love to know what was your favorite part? If not, see you in 2024.
