Recap of the Lululemon 10K Tour in Los Angeles

This year I set a goal to get back into a fitness routine. Surely, this is a departure from my usual content but I am striving for a life of balance. In January during my career sabbatical, I began to get into running. To up the ante, I registered for the Lululemon 10K Tour in Los Angeles. This was my very first distance race!

From Shaken to Sweaty: My Run at the Lululemon 10K LA!

I traded in cocktails for running shoes and tackled the lululemon 10K Tour LA. I flew down from Oakland to run the race in Los Angeles. The atmosphere at the race was electric. Despite running in the pouring rain, the weather didn’t put a damper on the event. I arrived to pick up my packet Friday afternoon (complete with some swag, of course!). I was especially excited about the 25% discount.

The Course

The course itself was a great way to see the city. It weaved through downtown Los Angeles. It offered a unique view of LA that you can only experience while on foot. There were definitely some challenging hills, but the energy from the crowd and other runners, kept me pushing forward.

The Finish Line and Beyond: A Celebration of Sweat (and Soon, Cocktails!)

Crossing the finish line was an incredible feeling. Not only had I conquered the 10K distance, but I felt like I had become part of something bigger. The post-race party was cancelled due to the weather. This was a bummer because I was looking forward to post-race yoga. I went to brunch at Post & Beam with a friend where we enjoyed refreshing drinks including mimosas! It was the ideal way to unwind and celebrate after achieving this goal and a personal best.

Thoughts from the Track to the Bar: Lessons Learned

Training then running this race reminded me about the power of community and the importance of setting goals and achieving them. I’ll be back with my usual drink & food adventures. In the meantime, if you’re ever considering a running race, especially one with a fun and supportive atmosphere like the lululemon 10K, I say go for it! You might surprise yourself with what you can accomplish.
